They work well, Dan. You've got some great patterns and shapes here. You did a great job capturing all of them. I never thought a chain link fence would make a good picture but you proved me wrong.

All 3 work for me.
But, 1 & 2 are jumping out at me!

photo one is just a chain link fence, but man I'm really liking that photo...something keeps drawing me to it..

You want the truth? CAN YOU HANDLE...... wait, wrong movie.
Interesting stuff, but my take is you're going for artsy, so why not throw out the rules and push it a little farther?
First the chain link does nothing for me, compositionally, or in subjct matter. Sorry.
The tree I like but a little dull. I like it with increased contrast (a little) then converted to a monochome other than gray. Maybe brown tones?
Good Year, again, increased the contrast, tonemapped to emphasize the chrome look, then changed it to blue tone.
Have fun!
Nice polished metal on the wheel/tire. I'm not artistic enough to know what to do to make it better. I like it like it is.
The fence is interesting but it doesn't really say much to me. If it was old and rusted out or something it might tell of story of neglect or age. I dunno. Just rambling off the top of my head.
I love sycamores but for me the beauty is in the shades of color when you wet the tree down. The water brings out greens and yellows you don't see when they're dry. I have a big one out in the front yard. You made me want to go out shoot it wet. I think I will.

So I went out and took a stab at it. I wet the sycamore and took a few shots with my 100mm macro. I was trying to bring out the different shades of brown, green, tan and yellow in the bark. Not much post processing. Just a little contrast on the b/w. A little sharpening on the color one.

That's what I'm talking about, Dave.
And I really pushed the PP on your copyrighted photo, sorry.
B&W can be dramatic but (apologies to Ansel) some things need color!
I thank you all for taking the time to comment, Larry I appreciate you frankness and advice I'm going give it a go this weekend after the grandkids go home! I like what you did with Dave's photo. Dave great shot I glad you felt inspired enough to go out and snap a couple photos yourself.
Thanks again

No prob, Odd. I didn't realize the giant copyright stamp was on them. I'm a newbie to Lightroom and I must have done something to put that stamp on there.
I think I'd split the difference on the color on that one. I was going for realistic. It looked pretty good on my monitor in Lightroom. A little faded here on UHH.
I like 'em all, particularly the chain link fence. It tells a story, makes you think... Are we on the inside, looking out; or on the outside, looking in? Perhaps we are doing both, looking out and in... but at what?
the tire is composed well.
Thanks, I worked on these a little on the suggestion of Larry B, I think they work better!
Thanks again Larry

I never noticed the bricks in the polished metal. The wheel and tire is a lot more striking photo in the 2nd attempt. The detail in the shiny aluminum/chrome? is a good addition.
