My wife and I live on the Big Island of Hawai`i, in Puna which includes the almost constantly erupting volcano that is the main feature of Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park. At 76 it is true that I've been a photographer all my life and most of that is either as a news journalist or broad-spectrum commercial. Nikon, DSLR.

Pele reaches the ocean
Native 'ohi`i tree blossom
oh my, your 1st picture is amazing.....it almost doesn't look real but it's beautiful! :)
Aloha and mahalo for your photos! The Pele photo is awsome. would love to see more volcano photos if you have them.
It was sufficiently real when I took it that the heat was a bit uncomfortable on my face! I was standing at the rope placed by the county as the closest the vent should be approached and it was shot with a 135mm lens, just so you know.
The usual real danger is flowing lava coming your way and that wasn't the case as all which came from this vent was going into the very close ocean. This eruption is now in something like its 25th year. Those of us who live here sort of lose track!
I don't have a big volcano collection in jpg format but I'll check through some and send them along. Attached is "SORT" of a Volcano picture as it's the revelation of surprising spectacle. Akaka is a 422-foot single drop, far from the largest in Hawai`i but it is the easiest large fall to access with a beautiful view.
This is six shots photomerged and "THE" print is 18" x 60" on canvas. Seeing this small one is not the same as looking at the larger one which some have said is "better than being there." Not so sure about that but it is a satisfying photograph.

Thank you for the welcome. Here's my 'cucaracha' photo to go with your hat! Our "house geckos' definitely earn their keep.

Very nicely done comp. Just wonder did you use any speed lite flash when you snapped these photos and also what lens did you use and what settings you used.
Have fond memories of Hawaii. Hope to go back there soon though Tahiti beckons next. Still play my Iz cd's often.
I don't keep those records. They are on the metadata, of course, but there is no reason for me to record them beyond that.
Aloha and mahalofor pic. Just post pic of big island. Need to get back for a couple more weeks, Black and green sand beaches were wonderful for a Alabama country boy.
