Looking forward to learning from this forum, and maybe even meeting other local Photo Nuts. Trying to figure out my new Canon SX50, but always fall back on the AUTO setting for the best pictures. Would like to learn about filters and move up to a DSLR when I can. Have tried enrolling in photography classes at PSC, (5)- but they have all been cancelled. No one else I know is interested in anything but P/S cameras, and mine is just a little more advanced, but enough to be a challenge for me.

The SX50 has a great reputation here and many users...and it is a far cry from your friends' P&S...so welcome and looking forward to more of your postings. Super hummer shots, too. ;-)

Good place to start is select the "P" mode and explore. It will start with the "Auto" settings until you apply your adjustments.

Welcome to the Hog Mary. Lots of SX50's here and those that have them seem to love them. ;)

Welcome to the hog MiMary.....We love newbies like you....You are not afraid to ask questions, and post some of your work. I think the three hummers you posted look great. Your placement is very good, color is good, size relationship to something everyone can relate to, (the dollar bill) was a good move. Keep shooting, ask more questions regarding manual focus....there are many, many hoggers here that are all to willing to help you.
