Introduction from Waco Texas

My name is Larry of L3Arts and I'm not new to photography, have been shooting since Mid 1960's. I have studied photography to University level though not complete at that standing. My equipment is near professional or advance, and includes Canon 5DII with 105 Macro, 90mm Zeiss and diopter set by Canon. My skills are in Photoshop, Helicon Focus, Photomatix, and a variety of other software used in Photoediting or touch up. I don't shoot professional as my health now limits me to occational works. I'm near stone deaf, and find it helps me focus on my photography without distractions. I'm willing to share knowledge, but I don't give it away as you will be given the means to find the answer ie: website or such, but I won't take you by the hand and show you step by step, unless I feel you deserve that help. Larry

In my distant past I earned an associate's degree in Interpreting for the Deaf. I had some very good friends who taught me so much about ASL, PSE. It was a good time. I was able to interpret a play once and helped a young teenager from Viet Nam. He was learning to sign as I was learning to interpret. Nice to see you here.

Nice to meet you Berniceb, and it must be interesting living in both Oregon and Hawaii. I earned my AA at MCC Waco and started a graduate study with Texas A&M Commerce. Photography and Art are my majors. The avatar is a pen and ink from my community college class.

Nice to meet you. I am hoping to learn a lot from this place. I have seen so many wonderful pictures and I have only been a member for 5 hours, lol. I love to take pictures - I just hope with time I get a lot better at it. :)

Keep taking pictures and that learning curve will come by trial and error, which often proves the best teacher...though I did learn much from school studies, and I taught a few tricks for my instructors benefit. L3

Hi Larry--Welcome here. Yep. Native Ohioan living in Oregon right now. As they say, I'm a Buckeye to the Bone! Also Yep. I was born Nov. 8, 1941--just a month before Pearl Harbor. I am not born deaf, but Deaf most my life. i don't remember what it is like to hear. I know I did for quite some time. I think that's a lucky thing....I can't imagine to BECOME Deaf and remember all the hearing!THAT would be worse than sad, I think! For me lipreading is hard. I do it, but prefer signing. We were told once in a class that lipreading ability is like ability of art: your parents might be great lipreaders and you might be lousy about it. OR you might be a great lipreader and your parents etc might just not be able. Deaf or hearing seem to have very little to do with it. It's your born ability one way or the other. Well, WELCOME! I think this is a great place and hope you like it also. Sorry taking so long to answer to you. My oldest daughter brought me and my oldest grandson to Pendleton for the hols and I am just now looking my emails! Home tomorrow so back into things!

How did your Vietnamise teenager do? Is he going to school OSSD?Well, I am so long answer you because we here at Jill's and I am only now looking at my emails! We go home tomorrow--my oldest grandson is with me. I'm having a wonderful time, but glad to be back on track!!!

I didn't phrase my words properly, I do not interpret, but require an interpreter at times...very hard of hearing. I'm only a few months older than yourself and lived in L.A most of my life. I did hear until age 56 when my hearing began to fall off, now I'm legally disfunctional (hearing that is lol). hope you enjoy good health otherwise and thanks for the greetings. L3

"Legally dysfunctional"! cool phrase! It must be very frustrating you had hearing for so many years! what kind of interpreter do you use? Have you learn ASL? You say your hearing begin to "fall off"! That's pretty much a sign for hearing losses. Mine goes from my shoulder to the end of my fingertips when I sign about my deafness. Like I said, can't hear myself. Now, if I would stand under or near a jet plane when he took off, I might get the take off roar!!! How is your family adjusting to your hearing loss? Do you have caption TV? I love this list, don't you?? Hope you --and all of you-- had a grand Christmas and tomorrow you gonna have a wonderful New Year!!!! ---Buckeye
