great shot - did you ask, or was your camera just up there on the table?

I never ask as the shot then becomes posed and that's not what I do. My camera was up to my eye. I do not make any attempt to conceal what I am doing. To me his reaction makes the image. A nod, a smile, a quick thumbs up and all is well. I will say that I do at times try to blend into the background, to be unobtrusive, but I never do sneaky things like putting the camera on a table.

OK - typo in yr reply - do you make any attempt to obtain the image surreptitiously?

Nice shot. I'd say TWO withering looks. The guy on the left looks none too pleased as well.

Thanks. Two for the price of one! He was a nice bonus.

Graham...it's not just the fellow at the table, but the man in the dark coat and dark hair....his face, too, is in focus and pops out because of the contrast. The lady to the rear is just out of focus range, but we are also drawn to her face. Another great photo.

Thanks again GWR100. When I shoot street stuff I do try to use as wide an aperture as possible to isolate the subject from the usually cluttered background.

Thank you Steve. I burned the edges then dodged the face of guy in the dark coat to bring him forward, I also lightened his coat to show a touch of detail in it. One of the problems, particularly with B&W is the adjustment of the viewers monitor, can they see some of the subtle changes, do they see what I see?.
