PLEASE has anyone the way to determine which Roscolux Gel Filter corresponds to the Likes of the Wratten 18A ie the B+W 403 Filter which by the way the Wratten 18A costs $310.00 on Ebay - so that is out of the question

And any of the other Infrared Filters

Have searched & searched and can NOT find any kind of Chart to head me in this dilemma.

Have a Swatch Book of 200 Roscolux Gel Filters along with soon to arrive Kenko & Lee Holders to house the 3x3" Rosco gels

Might add that the present Cameras - Soon to arrive for this Venture are the Full Spectrum Converted - Canon G10 & the Oly E-P1

Cheers for years

Some of the conversion companies also sell filters and the such. Do a search and find which ones do, you might get more info from their site. I thought the whole reason for buying converted was to eliminate the need for a filter? I have a B&W only (850nm) conversion, and the only thing I had to do was set a custom WB.

Thanks pigpen

APPRECIATE your reply

Already did a search on Rosco Filters website and came up blank

The cameras here are Full Spectrum so I can use a myriad of Infrared etc filters

So the search Continues

Here's a start - a conversion chart to Lee Filters. I'll look for a Wratten to Lee chart.

http://www.rosco.com/filters/lee_equiv.cfm

This might help also:

Hi! I have a question about infared. I want to have one of my cameras converted to IR spectrum. When you say full spectrum you are reffering to visible plus infared spectrum correct? And you want to filter the visible to allow the sensor to just pick up the IR correct?? Thanks.

Am stilll trying to get my head around all those equivalents

Yet cannot equate which filters are infrared -

Know the B+W 403 equivalent is the Wratten 18A but boy $310.00 for a 3x3" is a bit much and the Tiffen 18A is not on Ebay as of now

Which Roscolux Filter equates to these is still a mystery as are the other Infrared Filters like 590 650 665 720 & the B+W 091

And at this point will be trying for the 3x3" Filters

Hey Colin thanks. The conversion that I will have done will give me an IR sensor only. I will not have to worry about visable light. I just have to wait until I have $250 and shipping to do it.

That must be a DSLR at that Price - as most DSLR's run around $250 to get converted

So possibly as your 'avatar" says it must be a Nikon you are considering getting converted - what Filter 720 665 850nm ???

Colin yes it is a Nikon. It is a D2h. I use a D2x for my regular photo fun. I can use all of my existing gear, batteries etc with both cameras.

I am thinking of going for 850nm. I am new to this so until I can convert it I can do a lot of "learning" to be able to do what I want to do.

I really think I could have fun with it.

The 850nm will give you B&W capabilities only. If you want to be able to also do "false color", you will need to use a 650nm or 720nm conversion.

I am a B&W fanatic and that is what I am looking for. Almost every pic I take the first thing I do when back home is convert to B&W first. If I like it I never play with the color anymore. I have recently gone back thru some old pics and found great color shots that I had converted and left.

We all have our "IRMUSE" - yours is B&W - appreciate that

Although to all others suggestions we have this happening right now--->>>

Yet my search for Rosco Gel Infrared Equivalents seems to have been introduced to new set backs--->>>

Both the Kenko & Lee Holders FINALLY arrived today but-->>>

The Kenko Holder that seems to have be lost somewhere in the "Bermuda Triangle" since Aug 25th - must have been because the inside of the holder foam was wet & rubbing off. And --->>>

The Lee Holder does not have the 4x4/3x3 adapter in it for the 3" Rosco Gel Filters.

The G10 also arrived and the rubber band from the Lee seems to be inappropriate as is difficult to set on the G10 without the band showing

Maybe there will be better success when the E-P1 arrives with the 14-42mm lens - but not holding my breath

Anyways am trying out the G10 with what appears to be the optimum F/5.6 for the lens

HoHum   8-) these Infrared roadblocks just seem to be a never ending story eh???

Canon G10 Raw - with Deep Violet Wratten -(which I was told only for abstract images  ) - Kolarivision Actions to 720nm - Sagelight Change Colors to get the Sky into Blue - a Hu/Sat to get colors near where I wanted and then - Topaz Noise control - Color Efex -White neutralizer
