Has anyone else ever brought home an image that spoke to you at the time you took it but you can never 'finish' it in post processing in a way that conveys its emotional effect to others? The image below had golden grasses in the foreground and enough green on the bushes to slightly show up even though this is largely a silhouette shot. I wanted the blue/gray tones to prevail but was only able, using Lightroom3, to turn down the vibrancy as a way of getting rid of the warm foreground colors. I'm not versed in Elements (though I have it) and wonder if there is a better way to keep the slight blueish tinges without going to B&W setting. What appealed to me was the fog rolling over the peak from the left and the lone tree in silhouette against the glow of the hidden sun. But it needs some blue, don't you think?

Very nice composition. It looks great in B&W. I'm looking forward to seeing it in color too.

Actually, I was just waiting ($) until I got back from this trip to do the upgrade to LR5. What feature on LR5 would make the difference on this image do you think?

Hmmm, I was going to leave it in grayscale, but I can re-import it and save it in color. I'll get back to you on that a little later this evening.

Adjustment brush and spot healing are the main two. But it is how you use them that makes the big difference.

I like the composition and the feeling of the shot. It becomes a matter of personal preference as to what you want to portray. I tried some quick edits in Topaz which substantially changed the emphasis and view of the image; however, while I liked what they did, I have no idea what your are really trying to do. I did try a blue tinge and it does some interesting things. Also another one highlights the sun shining through the clouds. All I can say is keep trying or if you would like to see some of my ideas, I would be happy to share them. If so try to give me a little more idea of what you are looking for as well as showing the original image.

I want to keep an ethereal feel but with a hint of blues. I just don't know how to get rid of the gold and green tint in the foreground without ending up B&W.

It was one of those spontaneous moments when you're riding along looking all around and then, when you look forward, this vision just pops up and you urgently tell your spouse to "Stop, pull over, I've got to capture this image!"

Thanks for your encouragement! Glad that others find it intriguing as well.

Here is a possibility that gives blue tones without the gold and green. Is this closer to what you are looking for?
