I just received a lens I purchased from Adorama...came on time...packaged very well...wonderful. After opening the packaging I found the lens had a sticker...label...about a half inch tall by 2 inches long plastered on the side of the lens barrel. After carefully removing the label...well guess what I'm left with. Glue...about one third of the lens has adhesive all over it now....talk about focusing issues...good lord. So now I have to find a chemical that will remove adhesive and not damage the lens coating...any ideas?
BTW...this was the first time I purchased a lens from Adorama...and most likely my last. Just think...they have thousands of lenses...I wonder how many of them will show up this way?

They have a no questions asked return policy the first 30 days. I wouldn't touch the lens or the sticker. Just wrap it back up and download their return form. Give them a brief explanation and let them deal with the issue. My second move would be to then order the lens from B&H. But that's just me.

Instead of going first to the internet to complain, did you contact them?
No big deal, Bret. A little WD-40 on a soft cloth will remove the adhesive without damaging the finish on the lens barrel. Similar solutions are Break-Free, and military "CLP". I use Break-Free for a thousand things.

You said the sticker was on the lens barrel, how did it get all over the lens?
If its not on the glass a little WD 40 on a rag will remove the glue/ or it has worked for me.
I would return it immediately. That means no QC touched (or did touch and did not clean) that lens. I wouldn't use it.

Bret,
I have purchased cameras, lens and other equipment from Adorama with no such problems. Sorry for your experience. You should contact them immediately. Understand they have a great return policy. Never used it, never had to.

Well its not that easy John...I have to be on site at 6:30 or 7 with this lens...kinda why I bought it.

Adorama monitors this board and you most likely will here from them soon.
Or you can contact HelenOster who monitors this board for them.

WD-40. It's also great to clean your sensor with.
Just kidding.
In fact if you contact HelenOster here she will be able to smooth the problems out. She is the Adorama rep assigned to monitor this group.

I'm sorry to hear that, Bret. You're a consummate professional so I can only image how this must upset you. I hope it all works out well for you.

So use it for tomorrow morning...and then return it....they don't care...no questions asked.
But...I have to ask...what type of sticker was it?
I've bought DOZENS of lenses from them...several cameras countless other things..and I've never had a sticker on something...was it their sticker or the stick of the manufacturer of the lens or what?

I'm so very sorry to read this; as has been noted you have 30 days to return the lens to us and if you email me; Helen@adorama.com with your order number, I will have a pre-paid label sent to you right away.
In the meantime, please do use the lens! If you like it, and you CAN get the sticky stuff off, let's see what we can do about getting you a price break.
If there is any chance you could also send me a picture of the label residue it would be really useful.
Once again my apologies, and I look forward to hearing from you.
