Raw+JPEG photo question...
Took many photos of my nephews wedding this past weekend in the "Raw+JPEG" option. Before I upload them to my desktop, is there a way to put them in separate files when uploading? I can use either Windows Photo Editor or PSE 11. I have always just uploaded them into one folder in the past and then gone thru and separated them.
I was not the wedding photographer or second, just an uncle taking his first wedding photos of a beautiful couple and staying out of harms way in the process.
What I do is to upload all into same folder, then find the folder in Windows Explorer and click at the top of the column labeled "type". That will sort them into JPG and Raw (REF for Nikon). Then it's easy to highlight all the raw files and drag them into a separate folder with appropriate label.

do you know how do Lightroom handle this, when I look in the lightroom, I only saw one file, would it be they are so smart that only show the raw, what if I use dng to import. this part I am not so sure what will it do in file management.

I do my shooting in the same format as yourself & all I do is open up folder & R click, on the file of choise (Raw or jpeg), "rename" & put an "X" at front of the file name or no', results all the X files are together
so far I find if I just use RAW, the file is nice and good for edit, my d5100 filesize is about 21M, if I do raw+jpg, it will take up more space, but in my workflow in LR, I don't see why I need the jpg anymore. is there anyone can tell me why jpg option is a good choice.
the raw color without any edit is reasonable good already.
well my bottom line is how to make the best out of my storage. And now I always convert raw to DNG.
Thanks everyone for your responses...got the photos transferred and in separate files.
