Seeds for these flowers were accidentally brought onto my place by a contractor. Once they matured I noticed that the petals are closed together in daylight hours, but open up beautifully at night. Perhaps they are pollinated by some nocturnal insect, or a particular species of bat. Does anyone know what they are, or anything about them?
Also, gentle criticism would be appreciated.

Ed, I think this is " Moonflower" or Ipomoea Alba, the exotic cousin to Morning Glory, which opens in the daytime. Here in NZ, each flower blooms at night, then her glory is all over, till the next bud opens. Lots of info on Google. Lovely night pic. Cheers, Nancy J
