Kodak has emerged from a 1.5 year battle with bankruptcy and is supplying several of the fllm makers with film as many prefer film to digital. (ie. Fox, etc.).

There may be hope for many of us that still have film cameras?

Next you'll be telling us Polaroid film is back on the market, that would be an Impossible Project ;-).

It would be nice - the more options for film camera photographers, the better. And the return of Kodachrome would be awesome! But I don't think Kodak plans to go in that direction, other than through licensing out its name to other manufacturing companies which it already does to some extent.

I would settle for just seeing Kodak stay in existence, sentimental perhaps but a great institution that has done a lot for photography

A person can dream. I dream of a slow, super fine grain B&W in 220.

I have just bought 5 rolls of Kodak Ektar 100 ASA, going to try it in my EOS 3 & Pentax Super A - see how it compares with the 6D and 7D 8-)

I am thinking about opening a "Slide Rule" Company and making a dent in the Digital Calculater market. Great future potential there!

Here's part of what is being reported about Kodak:

With the court approval, the company's exit from bankruptcy is now imminent, Chief Executive Officer Antonio Perez said in a statement.

"Next, we move on to emergence as a technology leader serving large and growing commercial imaging markets," he said, adding the company will have a leaner structure and a stronger balance sheet.

It has sold off assets, including its consumer-focused operations, and will emerge from Chapter 11 to focus mainly on commercial products such as high-speed digital printing technology and flexible packaging for consumer goods."

A statement as to whether or not Kodak will sell to regular consumers ...

A Manhattan bankruptcy judge has approved a plan for Eastman Kodak to emerge from Chapter 11 as early as September 3. The new company won't bear much resemblance to the film and camera company of yesteryear, though: It won't, for example, make or sell any products to consumers.

But, there is still hope:

Kodak says in a statement that it is transforming itself into a seller of digital printing services to other businesses. That doesn't mean the company's traditional consumer products will disappear; but henceforth, they will be made by another entity, owned by a U.K. pension fund, and yet to be named.

Might work. I still have the one I used in college and several that I used at work when I first started.

Film ....???

Did SOMEONE mention "Film" ???

Film to some (not all) of the "New Kids" on the block would mean a foreign light substance on the front of the lens of their digital camera.

I just got a few 4X5 holders from a friend - He did not tell me that there was FILM in the holders... :-( OOPS! There that one goes??

Good idea, a way to introduce kids 16, or under, the concept of logs... they don't mention it in maths, physics or chemistry in UK "schools" today, or if they do, my 2 boys don't know about it.
