like to know if nikon d 3100 good enough for doing weddings for starters until get going.

Welcome SLDavis. I have a D3100 and so does my daughter. She does weddings and everything else and is in photography school. She loves her camera. Might take you some practice to get familiar with it but I believe you will be happy with the results.
