Yesterday, Labor Day, we went to the Salt Lake Bees final home game of the regular season. The Bees are on their way to the playoffs but this game didn't work out too well for them...they lost 17-7 to the Reno Aces. BTW, the Bees are the Angels triple A farm team and the Aces are the Arizona Diamondbacks triple A farm team.
Anyhow, I took my Nikon D5100 and Nikor 70-300 lens for the first time to a ballgame to see if I could get some decent action shots. This was an afternoon game so, fortunately, I had good light for the most part.
A mighty swing
Safe!
A great running catch
Double play, out at second!
Another running catch-see the ball
Safe at second
Out at second base
Very nice images!
Yakima had a "short season A team" and I enjoyed a couple of games at a nice little facility, but they moved last year :(
Thanks to everyone for their nice comments.
What I wanted to try was to get shots of the balls in play. Couldn't believe how lucky I was! In several of these photos, you can see the ball in play.
Actually, was amazed at how fast this lens AF worked. On several double plays, I was able to get a pix of the play at second and go to first and capture that action too, all in what seemed like a split second.
Thanks again.
