Just got back from a 4 day camping trip to Uwharrie National Forest, which is near Charlotte, North Carolina. There were lots of mushrooms around, and a beautiful lake. This was my "graduation" from my hubby with trailering my camper and doing everything before he gave me the "OK" to go it alone....and I passed with flying colors.

Congratulations on graduating. Looks like my kind of camping. :-)

You really like getting close to your subjects. Your mushroom shots are quite good and very interesting. Are any of them edible?

Ps. Your maple leaf shot reminds me my favorite season is right around the corner.

Thanks, although I probably should have used F8 to get more of the mushroom in focus; however, I had a Beagle tugging on me, so had to do a lot of pictures "on the fly" so to speak.

Thanks for the "graduation" congrats. My hubby's travel style and mine don't work well together. Looking forward to getting on the road solo and doing things the way I want to do them. :-D :-D :-D I have done tent camping in the past, but at 66, want to drive into some place, back in, hook up the electric, and have a cool glass of wine. If I can learn to do it....anyone can!!!

Thanks for looking. The mushrooms were all over the forest floor, and I was amazed by the variety of them. The butterfly just appeared one day and found something very interesting on the grill. He/she stayed for quite some time allowing me to get extremely close.

Thanks for looking and commenting. I really miss "real trees" and this place was far enough away from the coast where I live to give me a good drive to get some more "seat time" with the trailer. My husband went fishing on the lake - didn't catch anything, but had fun. There is a shooting range there also, but it was closed. This place has a lot of hiking, horse and ATV trails.

Thanks for looking. I like to get "down and dirty" with the fungi, as there is a lot of interest with color and texture in them. I am not sure if any are edible....if it doesn't come in a package at the store, I don't mess with them. :-D :-D I am sure someone on the UHH site could tell me if some of them were edible. It was cool there the first couple of days, but then turned warm and muggy. The nice thing was that there were no bugs, even though the campground was close to the lake. I too am looking forward to fall....I've had enough of hot and humid weather.

Thanks for looking and commenting. This was a very interesting mushroom - had red stripes on the stem as well. Will post a picture of the stem for you.
