Lite Scoop vs Rogue Flash Bender

Anybody have an opinion between the Lite Scoop and the Rogue Flash Bender or softbox kit? The Flash bender seems more versatile but some say it's heavy. I do shoot events in dark rooms with high ceilings and not sure I really like any of the solutions I've used besides of hand holding a sheet of copy paper over my flash.

Don't have any knowledge of Lite Scoop but have a Rogue FlashBender. Asyou know it bends into different shapes and has three flexible rods that are joined like a three pronged fork. The weight is 5.5 oz certainly heavier than a piece of paper but it may be attached to your flash and rolled into a snoot like shape as well. I have the larger of two sizes available when purchased.

I have both and prefer the LiteGenius Light Scoop.
Not sure what size I have.
Lighter, and I think it mounts better.
I shoot dimly lit events with high ceilings as well.
Lots of drag-shutter...as slow as 1/15th sec.

Thanks. It seemed versatile and with the diffusion panel, would make a decent size softbox a little farther off axis.

Well I had been leaning towards the Flash Bender after looking at a little softbox that felt like it might be yet another accessory that I might move on from in search of something I can use in a variety of situations. Some reviewers have said the it's too heavy though. With your recommendation, I may switch to the Lite Scoop.

Recent specs put the scoop at 1 oz and the Flash Bender at 6.1 oz. Both seem light by my standards.

I know this is not quite the answer but have you thought about...neither?

Give some thought to bouncing flash with a flag ala Neil Van Neikerk's black foamie thing.

Soft-Side lighting bliss for under $1.00.

I think the flash bender reflects more of the lite and is also more versatile.

I prefer the Lite-Scoop because with it's fixed position reflector the exposure and results are more consistent, and the mat finished reflector produces softer light. With all my heavy gear, every 5 ounces of weight I can eliminate is a helpful also.
Check out the results here:

Lite scoop and flash bender and Gary Fong's things tend to get in my way. I've just been using a Stofen for under $20, and I find it very versatile.

What a coincidence! My son just mentioned this to me a couple days ago and sent me to the same site. I am going to do that for different situation when I have light ceiling or walls to work with. It addresses exactly the issues I have encountered with not being able to bounce some directions without unwanted spill or flashing someone behind me. I haven't stopped at the local craft store yet but I found this option on Amazon is fulfilled by Amazon so it can be added on to an order for free shipping.

Thanks for mentioning it.

But the reason I am looking at these other products is for when I am working in rooms with dark walls or ceilings or outdoors in some cases though I have found I lose a lot of power when moving away from a direct zoomable flash.

I started using that "black foamy thing technique" a while ago from a tip here.
The results look like I went to extreme measures to light the subject.
Works great... when you have something to bounce off of.
Sometimes I don't have the patience to wait for the light to come back from thoae high ceilings.

I do the same only with a black foamy snoot, and aim for the nearest corner where the wall meets the ceiling. I move my subject slightly to get the desired angle. My only limitation, like mentioned by GN is that I only use it with white, normal height ceilings and neutral colored walls. Bright colored walls and high or dark ceilings just don't work for me.

Limited application . . but beautiful results under the right circumstances!

Thanks for all the opinions and info. I suspect I will own both by some point. I can see different advantages in both and maybe there is no substitute for just trying them. The question is which will be first. Next engagement is outside.

I will definitely be getting the black foamie thingy.

Foamy thing and the snoot that I use are useless outside . . nothing to bounce from. Lite-Scoop is good inside and out.
