My husband shoots with a Nikon D800 and D7000 and has a Sigma 150-500 telephoto lens. I am asking my Nikon and Sigma buddies ( I shoot canon and antique Hasselblad so I can't answer this) should he go Nikon or Sigma or the Tameron on the 2x teleconverter?

Thanks for your advise it is appreciated.

I believe you cannot use these converters on the Nikon D7000 but please make other enquiries about this before buying.

Sure you can. The limiting factor is the lens.
I use a Sigma and a matched teleconvertor on my D7000.

I think maybe I was wrong. Goofie thinks it is the lens and now I think he is right - particularly the 70-300mm Nikon. Sorry if I have misled you.

The Sigma converters match properly with the Sigma lenses. The 2X on the 150-500mm lens will meter but will NOT autofocus, it will make the lens manual focus only. He probably will not like the light loss nor image degradation experienced from using the TC on this lens. I have used both the 2X and 1.4X TC's on it and choose never to do so again, just not worth the trouble.

I have a question not based on your request. I wonder if there are any spousal discussions on whose camera brands are best. No need to respond but I bet the spats are fun.

Actually it's great. I am a Canon and Hasselblad shooter. I believe in keeping all matched glass to their respectful cameras. This way with him shooting Nikon he can't borrow my LENSES!! He has no problem using aftermarket glass and tells me to just get over myself and buy a Sigma! NOT!! Yeah! I have cooler toys than he does and MORE of them!! Lol and the business is MINE and he is not my second shooter!! Lol oh my god he is 6'4 and makes the slimmest woman look fat!

Really we do have peace in the house and studio. What's really fun are the shopping trips to Calumet in Phila and today heading if too B& H and Adorama in NYC to add to said lens collections. I love watching him agonize over what to buy next. Me? Hell if I need it, I just get it. Now do I need that antique 500mm manual Hassy?

That Hassy is not an antique. It's probably just about finally broken in. I still use my Canon F-1 and prime FD glass. The 50mm 1.4 is one of the best canon has ever made.

I almost bought one last week.

I am really enjoying my old camera. Funny I have been shooting manual in the 5d also. It's a good way to refresh skills!!
