I just worked on some photos this morning in Lightroom. Now when I went to my collection to export it it says, "The file.... is off line or missing" How do I get it back? I didn't move it to an external HD.

Use Windows Explorer to make sure the files are still there. Then in Library Mode right click on those folders/pictures that have question marks next to them and you should see it an option "Find folder or Find Picture". Left click on this option and locate the file. This should solve your problem if the picture or folder are still on your hard drive.

I opened the folder in the library mode. Went to the top bat Library scrolled down to find missing photos. It still says file missing. I can't export them this way.

Did you check that the files were there using Windows Explorer?

Just know that you can't attach a pic to a PM.
You'll have to post it/them here.

Directly below the text box, are three lines to add attachments.
You can't just copy and paste an image, it has to be an actual file.

It will say that if you renamed it or just moved it to another folder. It doesn't necessarily have to be an external HD move.

Ok let's say you moved a photo to a collection. Now you want to either send it or maybe edit it, or even remove it. You can't remove a photo from collections. When I try to edit it I get the message that 'It's off line or missing". How can I get it back to where I can do something with it?

You're not MOVING it to a collection, you're making an index to selected images.
The error means that LR doesn't know where the file(s) is/are. You have to help it re-discover them.

Theres a step by step how-to here:

Don't forget to search in any secondary or external drives you may have.
