The Woodward Dream Cruise was Saturday in Metro Detroit. It is called the world's biggest one-day car show.... Back in the 50's, 60's and 70's people would "cruise" Woodward in their hot-rods, hanging out with friends and showing off their cool cars... 18 years ago someone came up with the idea to raise money for a kids soccer field and it has certainly grown from there..
They expected more than a million people and 30,000 - 40,000 classic cars. Really a special event and one I look forward to all year. In the evenings leading up to the big day I stand on the side of Woodward and practice my "panning" shots - Love the look with the classic cars in motion as opposed to just sitting in a parking lot......What do you think?

Looks like you've got the hang of it. I can't do this well with bass boats on Lake Seminole. The dog in the side car got my attention.

A couple years ago I spent evenings on my porch taking pics of the passing cars - It was with a point and shoot so I had to wait until just before sunset to get the right light to slow down the shutter speed to get the background blur I wanted - Much easier with the DSLR....
Thanks for the comments and for looking!
Great pictures and great memories. I grew up just a few miles from Woodward Ave. and yes I did exceed the posted speed limit once or twice while driving a Pontiac GTO there back in the 60s. Thanks for posting.

Super shots hotzchw.
Thank you Doddy for the kind words and for looking - great event to get out and take pictures - combining two things I enjoy - classic cars and photography...
Very nice! One of these years I am going to make it down there for that!! I was born in Detroit, but parents moved us when I was 10, so I've been "up north" for 39 years, but I love visiting family down there :)
Man, I'd love to set up a tent right there! Just gimme a power point to charge the camera batteries...
