I looked at a couple of them, and they were free rentals - limited time use.
I prefer hard copies
I downloaded it on my IPad and it is a great resource for newbies like me
Hi piccnurse. In answer to your query about free books from Amazon. I have to tell you that in my experience you get only what you pay for. As for photographic reading material I would guide you to Bryan Peterson's 'Understanding photography field guide'. Worth every penny and teaches so much. Spend a little money or do as I did and lean on someone that loves you and get it for a birthday gift.Good Luck.
It looks like you got info about amazon. You may also want to check out the Craft and Vision photography ebooks. Some of them are free and the rest are very inexpensive. They are all written by top pro photographers. They are not basic books for beginning photographers but are great for someone who's gotten started and wants to improve.
