Silly question, how do horses age physically, do they slow down (not here :) ), relax, or what

Not silly, she takes a lot of "naps" she has slowed down quite a bit but can find the energy it takes to make it to the feed bin as fast as possible. She wanders the pasture a bit slower then she used to. She has lost most of her teeth so she has to eat easy to chew food.
So I guess just like people in some ways.

What a lovely horse! Great shot! I had a Bay mare growing up called Misty! Man I loved that horse. My Dad loved her more and spoiled her and would not let me use her for work so she got very spoiled. One day some surveyors came around laying out a pipe line. She promptly went over to a truck and picked up one of the rolled up maps and took off. She held them off till my Dad could get there and finally retrieve their map for them. She had quite the personality.

She's a beautiful girl. Thanks for the photo. One of life's mysteries to me is how old animals become wise and deep souls. You're both lucky to have had so many years to share together, and I hope many more.

Thanks, being a cat lover, rescue person I can see how cats age and get ill, and dogs, horses etc appear not to change.

Thanks

What a great story, sounds like my mare, she is very very spoiled. Right now she is in the back yard taking one of her naps.

Thank you, she has lived a pretty soft life in her retirement.

I have seen a lot of horses get ill and die before they hit their 20's I think it is like humans some just live longer and do good. It's a struggle (and a lot of money) to keep weight on her in the winter since she hasn't got enough teeth to eat and process food right. I'm sure you have seen that in some of the rescues you come in contact with.
