I think we've been through all this before, in another thread. The one and ONLY time I ever tried to take a self-portrait, I forgot to take off the lens cap. And it was a HUGE disappointment, too. I'd spent hours and hours, first in a salon, then in WallyWorld for a new shirt, to WalGreens for a new bottle of gargle. I worked for hours getting the tripod set up backwards and pointed just so-so. So, what I'm saying is, I'm saying I'm NOT going through all THAT again just to pacify my needy ego by showing my handsome face for all the whole world to swoon over.

I'm a complete blank

Hi rickyd
I also live in sweet home Alabama, I live in a rural area about 10 miles outside of B'ham and wouldn't want to live anywhere else, as they say around here, If you don't like the weather in Alabama just hang around a while and you will get what you like.

That being said I am 39 and married to the best man in the world! Been married almost eighteen years. Took one look at him and said "He's mine!!" No biological kids for us but do have a menagerie of feathered and furred kids running around. I worked in the micro electronics industry for a long while then a complete opposite and worked with animals for many years. At the moment I am a stay at home wife trying to get the new house we just bought set up and liveable.

aha, at last we know you are a he. we didn't even know that, unless of course this is a misderection and you are really female. but then you know some of us are xfile fans and would see trough that, so maybe this is misdirected misdirection and you are male but don't even look like this. I am begining to suspect that the truth is you are a disfugered hedgehog, thus the name of the site. You are preety machiavalian, my male/female/mammal friend.

Well, now... Ms JacLee, you see, this is how it is. The last time I showed my handsome face on one of these 24/7/365 forum web sites I was besieged with a deluge of marriage proposals beyond my wildest fears. Marriage is against my religion, you know, because I am a devout bachelor, religiously so. Walking down ANY kind of isle gives me the Willy-Nellies, even tip-toeing down the vacuum sweeper isle at WallyWorld scares me. Shortness of breath. Hives. The very thought of the possibility of such a thing once gave me an ingrown toenail. However, all these fears are easily negated if you know how to cook possum stew and corn pone.

I realize it shouldn't matter...but it would be wonderful if everyone could post a picture of themselves in their information page or as an avatar. It's so nice to put a face to a conversation. I've been receiving lots of wonderful Private Messages of encouragement and compliment, and as I go to the sender's information page, it's kind of disappointing to not be able to "see" who is sending the great messages.

Don't be shy. Show us who you are. Tell us a little bit about yourselves. Build some friendships and share! =)

Can't believe I read all 19 pages. Great learning about all you great people and all your accomplishes. I started not to post anything, but what the heck.

I just turned 77, so that makes me one of the more "senior" persons on this forum. I've been married to my high school sweetheart now for 53 years. We have 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. Latest great grandchild 2 weeks old.

I got my first little Kodak box camera in elementary school, joined a photo club in Jr. high, started developing my film and contact printing my photos, became my high school yearbook photographer, and finally Baylor U yearbook photographer. Photographed my first wedding around 1959 with a 4x5 speed graphic.

After graduation I went into education and was a school teacher, principal, director of special education, and staff photographer for Houston ISD. On the weekends I had a part time business photographing weddings and families.

I retired HISD in 1995 and expanded my part time photography business. Around 2000 I decided to retire from photography and sold all my medium photography equipment and bought a little point and shoot digital camera. BIG MISTAKE. Got hooked and now I have a Canon 1d Mark III, 5d Mark11, G11, and 7 lenses. Occasionally I will second shoot a wedding for a couple of studios and sometimes a family portrait, but mostly take pictures of grandkids, travel, nature, landscape, and more recently stock.

Attached pictures are from a recent cruise to Alaska.

By the way, my name is Bill.

Hello Bill, Interesting story and lovely pictures. Thank you and welcome. A hello for your beautiful wife too. Congratulations on your 53 years. I had 51 years with my sweetheart before God called him home. Anxious to see more of your works. Jackie

Mr. Gizzie-whicker I make a mean stew but never was able to run down a possum. Corn pone ? How about Scrapple? Much better. I am feeling a bit sorry for all those young, or old, widows out there in your country. You sly old fox.

AAAAHAAAAAA! I looked all over for this thread, couldn't find it, so I made my "portrait" into my avatar.

Most of my info is in my bio. Originally from Missouri, WAY back in the hills. Lived in the west since getting out of the military. Love the desert southwest, it kinda grown on you. (No "warts" jokes, please!) We go out roaming the desert a lot. My wife loves to take photos, too. Only problem, she's better at it than I. Married to a wonderful lady from Honduras, where we plan to go live next year when I retire.

Take a strong sedative, THEN look at the pic.
