First time poster..... What do you think?
HI everyone. I have been lurking for awhile and looking at all the beautiful photos everyone has taken. I have already learned quite a bit just reading some of the old post . So now I think I will jump in and ask for a critique on a couple of my photos. I have only had my Canon T2i with the 18-55mm lens for about 6 months now and have just been shooting away. Alot of times I get lucky, alot of times I don't. Here are some that I think I got lucky on. Please tell me what you think. I have a thick skin so not going to insult me. No sense in heading down the "bad habit" highway any longer then necessary. :-)
We have similar cameras and you take far better pics than I do. Your photo's look good to me but I am trying to learn myself so maybe others will be able to help you. Keep up the good work!
Shane, I love seeing what others shoot with their T2i, I too, have the same camera. I've added a Canon 55-250 mm lens and will be adding a Rokinon 8 mm fisheye pretty soon. I really like #1, the horizon needs to be level in #2, that's easily corrected in post processing. When shooting or cropping in post processing, try not to always bullseye your subject in the middle of the photo. If you use your LCD on the T2i, you can turn on the grid to help you with the rule of thirds. I like the other photos you took and looking forward to seeing more posts!!
You have some absolutely stunning shots there!

I didn't even notice the horizon in pic 2 until you said something about it. Thank you for pointing that out. I will have to find the original and fix that.
I am hoping that "Santa" will bring me the 55-250 lens that I have been looking at for Christmas. I have been wanting this lens almost as long as I have had my camera. Keeping my fingers crossed for it.
stunning photos , use the rule of thirds do not put your subject in the middle of the photo . good job.
You need to post a lot more. These are very nice.
Thank You all for the comments. I guess I need to work on the cropping end of things. Could someone tell me the rule of 3rds?
Love your photos. I think your croppings are fine. Rule of thirds is basicly dividing your image into thirds and placing your main subject into one of those thirds. iow place the main subject off center. However it's just a guide line. Rules are made to be broken. :)

Re; The 4th pic - bird beneath the sun. How did you do that - with neutral density filter(s)?
Great Pics!

Rule of thirds: make a tic-tac-toe grid, place the subject at on of the intersection points, or along one of the lines, for most pleasing composition. And if it's an animal/bird/person, have it looking or moving into the space, not moving out of the frame. (Then learn when to ignore/break the rule.)
Since you asked for it...
#2: I'm not sure what your point of view is-- an interesting beginning, but I'd try some different angles, and keep in mind that 3 objects make a better composition than 2.
flower: I prefer to see the whole flower unless the photo is spectacular. I find the focal plane problematic for me, throwing the closest portions out of focus. I think a different angle might be better. And as you notice, I'm saying "I" a lot, because much of this is personal preference, not the edict from on high.
egret: I find the multiple starbursts around it distracting. I'd prefer an angle that moves them away from the main subject.
