I am just short of 70 and have been doing photog since I was 14.
First job was in a portrait studio in Spokane, Wa.

Finally retired from 40 years of software creation and having more time to persue pics.

My wife is an artist so I do a lot of her pieces for shows. It can be quite challenging at times.

Still use my Nikon F2 at times and a Nikon Coolpix 5000 from a way back. Yes, I ned a good DSLR...

Welcome, you will need lots of "retired" time, and lovely shots, the reflection is super. Cheers, Nancy J

Welcome, Ed. I too have a Nikon 5000 from way back. It had issues from the git-go. I like the fact that you could focus down to 3/4 inch. Did a lot of copy work with it. I don't use it any more. Batteries are hard to find.

Hi Emmett,

You can get batteries from Amazon very reasonably.

I just looked and they have 2 for $11.13...

Welcome to the hog, Ed. Your photos speak for themselves. Nicely done. Would you please check store original when you post your next shots, so that we can enlarge the shots to get a better look. As for your question......if you like your Nikon's, then by all means, purchase another newer Nikon. You wont be sorry.

Hi Ed,

I'm 70 years old and retired. I've also been taking pictures since I was a kid but they were primarily snapshots of family and vacations. My retirement goal is to learn how to become a better photographer and this site is already helping. You'll find most people willing to share their photos and their Advice. I've already learned a lot just looking at the pictures in the photo gallery. Welcome aboard and have fun.

John
