I have a canon s95, which i use on weekly sightseeing bike rides and business trips. I love the ability to carry it in a belt pouch and ignore it until i want to take a picture. Although i am pretty happy with my photos, I would love to have a more capable camera, for resolution, telephoto and bokeh, but dont see how i could carry one around as conveniently. I dont want a camera hanging around my neck. any suggestions? I dont think the rx 100 is enough of a step up to really make a difference but maybe someone has contrary experience. the panasonic lumix fz200 looks interesting for a smallish camera but how do you carry it around?
I use a Canon point and shoot and a Nikon P510 bridge camera.
Light and very versatile with 16MP and 42X Zoom that will perform on both ends, the P510 is always in reach
thanks, which canon, i am reading about pocketable superzooms and the canon sx 280 seems to have the best picture quality, also would be familiar controls for me and 12 mp takes up less storage on the computer than sony's 20 mp for example.
i dont shoot video, only interested in stills.

Check out Canon SX50. Great little camera.
HOw about the new Nikon A compact??
I agree with Racmanaz. I purchased a Nikon Coolpix A for when I don't want to lug around my DSLR. It's a fixed 2.8 lens which may not fit your criteria. Beyond that, it's a great small camera that takes excellent pictures. It has the same sensor as the Nikon D7000 so low light performance is also good. It's also got a close up mode which comes in handy. I've been shooting with it for about a month and am very happy with the results.
Had the canon s95 then got g15 just right, controls on s95 to small.
I just got a panasonic fz200 and am totally happy w/ it. I thought about a Nikon, Sony or another canon since I already have a canon dslr but went for the panasonic b/c of the leica lens and b/c you can use f2.8 aperture at its widest (28mm) or the telephoto (600mm). Quality of the lens blows all the competition away.

In 1998 I got a little Canon Elph film camera. It used the Advantix film system, so I could shoot three different size images. I carried it in a little leather bolt holster, and it was perfect for travel. Years later, I got an almost identical Canon SD800 IS. The belt holster was fabric, so I use the leather one from the original Elph. It's a good camera and a good size.

Trey Ratcliff switched from the Nikon D800 to the Sony NEX-7.

I would suggest the G15 because it has an optical viewfinder. I would not own a camera without a viewfinder.
I have used a Canon G10 for quite some time now and have found itto be an excellent very portable camera. The battery life is very good. I am getting the new WiFi card for it so I can upload via my Droid.
