Civil rights leader Jesse Jackson says he won't back down from controversial comments he made following the George Zimmerman verdict after he was asked to apologize by Florida Gov. Rick Scott.

Jackson on Tuesday called Florida “the Selma of our time.”

The remark follows Jackson saying Florida was an “Apartheid State,” after a jury earlier this month found Zimmerman not guilty on all charges in the shooting death of black teenager Trayvon Martin.

“Jesse Jackson owes every Floridian an apology for his reckless and divisive comments,” the Republican governor said in a statement. “It is unfortunate that he would come to Florida to insult Floridians and divide our state at a time when we are striving for unity and healing.”

I am proud of Gov. Rick Scott for not caving in to this jerk!
Jesse should be arrested for inciting to riot!
What's your take?

Hi Hawk. Al Sharp Ton has been low key lately. I don't think he wants to loose his job. He has a lot of back taxes to pay. They are both very cocky on this issue because they have the big 'O' on their side. Unbelievable. They act like a bunch of kids or worse. These three jerks are going to get people killed.

Magicray, Can we use a different distinction for potus besides the Big "o"? That is associated with something very precious to many of us, and it just ruins that "specialness" when it is associated with a not so fond person in office.

I see your point. Well, not literally. I certainly didn't mean to disrespect one of our most important and useful body parts.

Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton

Terrorist:
A person who terrorizes or frightens others.
A person who employs terror or terrorism, esp as a political weapon

Does the definition fit?

I cannot think of a more apt description of Florida than that offered by Jesse Jackson. I have never been a fan or follower of his however, in this case he has described Central & Northern Florida accurately. South Florida is a completely different story and was aptly described as a third-world country a couple of years ago.

And how much Quality time have you spent in Central or North Florida Rix? Are you saying the area around the Kennedy Space Center practices Racial Segregation? Do you know this or are you just parroting the traditional liberal propaganda. Does the Orlando area discriminate? How about UoF, Florida A&M UCF? Notice, I also chose to use the English word instead of the emotionally charged South Afrikaan (Taal) language. word that Jackson used for effect, Apatheid. Apartheid was abolished in south Africa in 1992/1993. In the US the only way that Jackson and Sharpton can stay in business is to keep turmoil and the myth of injustice alive. It's way too late. When the POTUS, Attorney General, members of the SCOTUS, Governors, mayors, Police Chiefs, Congressmen/woman US Secretary of State etc have been or are currently people of color, that old worn out Whitey is holding the brother down is getting rather thin. Hats off to Scott for not taking crap from anyone.
