I just filled out and returned a questionnaire from the RNC platform committee. It was a machine read form with a small section for additional comments. Following are my comments, overly brief but all I could squeeze into the small space provided.

"I have not enclosed a contribution because I refuse to back a loser. I believe that until the party enforces the 1st amdmt right of freedom of and FROM religion and stops capitulation to religious zealots who would have a christian theocracy rule and until the party abandons its campaign against a womans right to choose, it is doomed to fail. The word god should not appear in a political party platform!"

Just so you all know where I'm coming from.

I don't always agree with what you post, but this is good stuff. You could apply the same response for the democrats as well with different substance. Nice work.

How can anyone put any confidence in anything you say when you add your own words to the constitution? Clearly, you don't have any idea what you are talking about! Why don't you just talk to yourself and leave the rest of us alone?

I will, of course, look for a mention of God in the platform, Croce. Afterall, even our foretathers, though not establishing a religion, placed their trust in God, as is stated on our currency and change.

Well if I just talked to myself, I would be judged as crazy now wouldn't I Robert?

What is it you do not like Robert? Let me guess ... It is the word "From" and the words, "the word god does not belong in a political platform"

How is my guess Robert?

I know Steve, I know, but since god has done absolutely nothing to help this country I think maybe it's time to get rid of the delusion that he/she/it ever will. So, since god is so obviously a non participant, god does not belong in the platform. My take anyway. And Steve, in case you have not noticed, you do realize our currency is going to hell, do you not?

Nothing, Croce? Walk into your bathroom and look at the toilet paper that you have hanging there. You could be in a country where you eat with one hand because you wipe with your other hand. Well, that's just a start. How about electricity, water, sewer systems, woodframe and brick dwellings that are insulated with heating and air conditioning, a medical system second to none. Even most of the poor have these things. Hmmm.....so many blessings and so little thankfulness!!!

I see. And god is to receive credit for these things Steve? God invented toilet paper? Hmmm and god, not Volta, or Tesla or even Ben Franklin invented electricity? Actually no one person did, it wasn't "invented" it was tamed. I could not be living in a country where I eat with one hand and wipe with the other Steve because I would have been killed for being an infidel. I do not believe in their "benevolent" god either. Blessings? OK Steve, I'll give you that Jesus died for out sins. (How can I dispute it. I did not witness that) but anyway, just what has he done for us since? Given us the Crusades, The Inquisition and Barack Obama. Steve, I told you before, It does not work on me. Sorry Buddy. Fairy Tales may come true but ...

Yes, I do and I applaud you for your loud voice! Keep up the good work. If others can voice their opinions it's refreshing to read yours, too. It shouldn't be a PC one way street and to be labeled by those of different beliefs who have a direct line to you know who.

Ah yes, the Crusades and the Inquisition.....and we could have a great conversation about how man twisted the meaning of Christianity once Constantine made it the state religion......but, how 'bout victory over Hitler and the Japanese. I'll take that as a significant blessing from God.

Steve, if you are going to 'look for a mention of God in the platform' then will you support the party that does such? Would you think that the inclusion would be sincere or just political pandering?
The slogan "In God We Trust" derived from the "Star Spangled Banner" and was adopted by the Union. Coins were printed with that slogan to infer to the Confederates that God was on the Union side.
In 1956, the nation was at a particularly tense time in the Cold War, and the United States wanted to distinguish itself from the Soviet Union. As a result, the 84th Congress passed a joint resolution "declaring IN GOD WE TRUST the national motto of the United States." The law was signed by President Eisenhower on July 30, 1956, and the motto was progressively added to paper money from 1957. The United States Code at 36 U.S.C. 302, now states: "'In God we trust' is the national motto."
Which God were they referring to? If it was a particular God, such as the Christian concept of God then the First Amendment was violated when it comes to 'freedom of religion' and 'separation of church and state'.
My question is "What do we trust God to do?" Isn't it arrogant to think that we are a superior country and people because God is ON OUR SIDE? Silly propaganda, that's all it is and the sheep who expect the government and God to provide for them eat it up.

Steve, that was a silly statement. The Russians had a BIG role in defeating the Germans and what religion were they. I'm sure as soon as the Nazis saw that cross they surrendered immediately. What were they...vampires?
And if Constantine hadn't made Christianity the state religion, maybe you and many others would be making salah five times a day.

I don't think that was a silly statement. In the biggest shootin' match of all, I have no doubt that God tipped the outcome. If it took the Russians, so be it. It also took some of Hitler's idiotic decisions.
