You most likely deleted from the Li bray, just do another import in same place it was loaded from originally

Can you look at the images in its group and do a search for the name? When you deleted, you were given a choice of Trash or delete completely. If you deleted completely, that could be a problem. It doesn't exist anywhere else?

Then just do another Import of that file. I like to use Windows Explorer and copy them into a new Directory then Import into Light Room From the hard drive. I'll leave the card alone. When I ready to go with the camera, and all is safe with my files in the computer, I'll re-format the card in the camera. That is just one-way. If you use Picasa then you can name a directory and have them put in there. Then go to Light Room. I don't let Light import anything.

Just for the fun of it, find the name of that file and search your computer for it. it would be good to know what happens when you delete - for future reference.

When deleted, can't it be retrieved from the Recycle Bin?

That would depend where it was was deleted from. If it were on an external hard drive, or flash drive no it would be in digital heave. It could be retrieved with software designed to for recovery.

I import all my photos to external drives using LR and when I delete a photo from the drive using LR it always goes into the trash, so I can recover it if I accidentally deleted one that I wanted

Make sure when you import your photos to have them backed up in a separate place (additional HD etc.) LR can do this for you but I manually put the photos into a separate place, then drag them to my main file. Then they are in 2 places at the start. Plus I don't re-format the card until I have them in 2 places, named etc. Having the extra back up has saved a few oops.

No. I looked there first. Fortunately I still had it on my card so I just re-imported it.

Thanks

You got lucky that it was still on your memory card. A lot of people delete or format the card soon after retrieving their images.

Here's a little lesson on what happens when you delete or remove images in LR. Click on the blue (Download) link under each image to see a larger easier to see example.

These are your choices when you try to delete an image - If you chose "delete from disk" look for the image in your trash or recycle bin. If you chose remove then follow the rest of these examples
