Does anyone play around with Green-Screen? If so, what do you use it for?

Hi, dirtpusher. I've got green screen photo & video stuff up to my ears. I was just curious how many other people use it, like it, have fun with it. My primary interest is in its use with video, but photo is fun too.

I posted 3 pics on a green screen in "pictures" -- "Plush Toy" had some fun with them--My son loved the results.

I haven't used it for a photo shoot for anyone but my own kids--so far.

I have used green and blue screens for a few years now. I mainly use them for images. When I know I want to use a different background, I will shoot with either the green or blue background, depending on what the person or subject is wearing. It allows you to select and remove the background fairly easy.

Green screens are used to create composites... just like your TV weatherman in front of the map... and many more.

That would be a nifty picture, placing the first people and their rig flying over the moon. You should do it, and show us the results. Before & After are interesting ways of showing the results of background replacements. I like it.

Well... primarily, I use the green screen for video, with Adobe Premiere. As one of the volunteers at our local historical museum, we've set up a green-screen studio and produce film interviews of our military veterans, as well as other historically significant persons. The green screen is used to show supporting photographs of the progression of their lives during the interview. For photographs I simply use one of PhotoShop's selection tools, usually the Magic Wand, and set the tolerance according to the need, to remove the solid color, leaving a transparent layer beneath, or behind, it, onto which any other image may be placed as a background. If I did this often enough I'd get the chromakey plugin, but this other way works well enough for no more than I do.

I know that according to UHH rules, I'm not supposed to offload someone elses photo, modify and re-post it without their permission, but hopefully the above author won't mind the attached moon shot combination of their photos... showing that it's very easy to do, encouraging others to have fun with it also.
