Model release forms query

Hi All,
I have a query.
I have been asked to photograph a 'lantern parade' which consists of a competition in a pub, then following the parade down the high street. The whole event is mainly for children (and parents).
Do I need to get permission? I know photographing children is a hard subject, but is it ok in a public place as other members of the public could also be photographing them?
Or if I do need to get permission, should I...
a)just ask for permission
b)Model release form?
c) just get a signature alongside printed name?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance :)

It isn't public in the PUB so you need the permission of the BREWERY and Landlord if he is a freehouse owner then just him.

No the answer is YES, as you see he started off saying IN the PUB so you need permission and forms, the landlord will need a copy for his records to cover him

Depends on the end use! If PERSONAL no release if the locations are asking you to do it. If they will be published or shown, it is best to get a "Model Release for Minors" which you can find easily by using Google.

As was pointed out to me this is NOT the USA, laws are different, here you get permission, law or not, when on private property

Here's a site I looked at yesterday. Look at all the people in these photos. Do you think they all signed releases? They are in a pubic place "with no expectation of privacy." If you're on private property, they that's a different situation.

as has already been pointed out this is the case in the UK our laws are different to most other countries i am still not 100% sure as minors under 16 are involved that parental consent may also be required
