The interest shown recently about the SX50 HS prompted me to try a little experiment of my own, JUST FOR FUN.OK!! :)
I took the best example from each of my cameras to see what the difference was, conditions were the same for all and I have only cropped and clicked the auto levels for each one. The cameras used were my old Fuji SX200 EXR, the Canon 60D + 100mm L lens and the Sony RX100 tiny little pocket camera. CC invited, have fun

Sorry Robert I am the last to rain on your parade when it comes to your photography, because you have taught me a thing or three in the past few months.
Whilst this is a very interesting experiment for image quality; I would like to be a little pedantic about “shot under the same conditions”. I am aware that different lens and cameras can shoot under different conditions, and the camera can interpolate the results according to its software.
My assumption is these were shot outdoors instead of controlled studio lighting.
Exif results see above for complete set.

I think we will all have our own preferences and biases; but this exercise is limited, because it does not take other camera properties into account like speed of focus etc.
But for a fun thing to do, and thinking outside the box I applaud you.
Hi Michael :-) I just picked up each camera and took 3 shots as I would normally do. I was trying to emulate what I thought other members may do. It is just for fun and hopefully will draw a few comments :-)

Ok folks lighten up; I am obviously in too critical analytical mode.
Robbie did say this was for fun.
I will now take that chill pill.
:P :P
Canon Macro lens wins hands down IMHO. My test was the sharpness of the middle portion of the bloom :-)

Must be viewed in download, although it is very close to call in my opinion.

Hi Dixiegirl :) I know if I took the shot seriously, the order would be Canon Macro, as you say by a mile.lol. then the Sony RX100 and then the Fuji S200Exr. The point I was getting round to is, all of these cameras have their advantages and disadvantages and that all, have to be considered when choosing a new camera. What prompted me was a remark from a Canon SX50 owner who was complaining of the lack of sharpness, which I thought was pretty good for a Bridge camera..thanks for commenting
