Be sure and have some sound on for this...It is a bit graphic in the end with some adreniline trash talk, but worth a view to see how quickly things can change while on routine patrol (as if there were such a thing)

I know everyone bitches about getting a ticket, but this is the side of police work most of us never see unless it is on TV. This is real life.

Thanks for posting

Steve

It appears you would have to watch a program or movie called "End of Watch" to have seen it.

You are absolutely right! I should have figured it wasn't real by the way those cops were advancing on the shooters instead of seeking cover.

This would be unbelievable in a TV series. Amazing.

Being a retired truck driver I was required to go into South Central LA on a regular basis to deliver loads. That place, as you can see by the video is like a 3rd World Country. It certainly has to be one of the most dangerous places in the entire nation, as well as Detroit, Chicago and Union City, NJ.

There are times you don't have the option of seeking cover...I tell you this as an experienced, gun battle tested retired police officer, who also has personal knowledge of other officers placed in similar circumstances, with similar responses. Sometimes you just get into something that only the man upstairs can help you with. The last shootout I was involved in, I was between two houses, as was the bad guy, and he fired at me three different times...I can honestly say, in reflecting back, that I did not hear any of his shots, but clearly remember one of my shots glancing off a brick wall next to his head. There was absolutely no place to seek cover or concealment, and retreating without continuing the fight would probably have put me six feet under. My continued aggression forced him to seek other recourse's, which ultimately gave me the upper hand and the victory.

Good for you brother, you're preaching to the choir. I retired after 30 years on the job. I worked in a warrant unit for most of that time and did my last 10 years as a police firearms instructor. I agree that sometimes there just is no cover and you have to be aggressive, but in that movie clip there was just no reason for those two cops to leave the cover of their cruiser.

Lots of re-plays in the car chase - the gun flashes were as phony as can be ( I shoot a hand gun often ) - but that said I'm still on the good guys side.

Even fired one with "Magna-porting?" We were chasing some burglars one dark night and the Sergeant took a shot at them with his .357 that had been magna-ported. It lit up the night as if the sun was out....also temporarily made us lose our night vision, which was dangerous of course.
