From what I've read, the Black (top model) is not yet ready for prime time. Read the reviews on Amazon. They seem to have lots of software (firmware?) problems with it. The other two seem to be more reliable.

I have the "Black" edition and recently used the heck out of it while in Maui. I had zero problems with it.
After you buy it you do have to do a firmware update and a lot of people have problems completing that task.....not sure why though.
My only quirk with the GoPro is that it shoots at such a "fixed" wide angle and having used my zoom lenses for the past 30 years it takes some getting used too.
I'll attach a green sea turtle shot. This turtle is easily 2 feet long and about 4 feet from me. But the 170 degree angle of view makes it look much smaller. This is uncropped.

I too have the black model and love it! I downloaded the update right away and have had no issues. Here is a photo I took of my grand son's while we were on a bike ride today.

Like the turtle shot, wish I had had my Go Pro last year when we went visited Hawaii.

I'm curious about the update because I keep hearing about that. I'm wondering why they are not sold with the update, or are the updates coming so fast that the cameras are on the shelves waiting to be sold when the latest update is announced?
