Portrait professional problem

Does anyone here have portrait profesional? I have just the standard version and once I import an image from portrait pro from Aperture and PP done and then save it to desktop and then import it from aperture the file becomes a 3mp file down from 12mp. Does anyone have this problem? Ive tried all ways of saving and still the same thing. I contacted portrait pro but they just said to upgrade to the latest addition which I did but the same thing happens. It is a bit annoying also that I can't save straight to aperture. I did read on the site that the standard version doesn't accept 16 bit files which Im using. But it does accept them but they return as an 8 bit file, maybe this is the problem. Im thinking of upgrading to the studio addition which accepts 16 bit files and also has plug-in for aperture. Has anyone had similar issues? Have you upgraded to the studio addition because of similar issues?

Does it reduce your mp size down to about 3mp? If it does then I think this software is pointless if you want some big blowups.

What about the pixel size in the file info? this is what concerns me the most even when I save it as a tiff a file size from say 17mb goes to about 8 or 9 mb but the pixel size from 12mp to 3mp. I think it is saving it from the PP done on the face maybe? When you say you have the full version, you mean the studio version which handles huge files and costs over $100? Im thinking of getting the next one down which costs about $65 and handles 16 bit files. I guess it has the ability to PP the whole body as well.

I use tiffs but still the same problem. I think that maybe my problem is a standard for the software for everyone in that a PP Image returned from portrait pro is diminished a great deal.

Why not learn how to do skin work with out using a plug-in? It would give you more control, you would be able to develop your own style and your files would not be reduced in size.

Your confusing file size with Mp, they are not the same thing. What ever Mp (image size W x H) you started with, you will have the same after editing with PP. I have it and it's great for portraits and I have made 16x20 no problem.

Because PP offers a method to do in 5 min what it used to take me an hour to do.

I do mostly But I like sometimes what portrait pro does to an Image and its so simple and quick. I use aperture mostly and occasionally CS6 but I find it too daunting with the learning curve.

No Im not. The file size or Mb size dramatically reduces and also the Pixel size dramatically reduces as well more so than the MB. Look at your file info after PP and see what sizes they come to. If they both have dropped a lot then it must be a standard thing. If they have not then I must be doing something wrong.

The file size changes because we are going from 16 bit to 8 bit but when I checked the Mp size, it is the same. I started with a 4000 wide and ended with a 4000 wide.

Does anyone here have portrait profesional? I have... (show quote)

Hi saxkiwi,
I have the standard version and enjoyed it a lot when I first got it but learned since then to avoid most adjustments, and use the very basic, minimal ones. Actually I never compared file size to learn if it produced a smaller size, but after 'getting into' Perfect Portrait in Photoshop Elements 10, I rarely use Portrait Professional any more. I found it exaggerates most effects too much... at least in my opinion.
