convert 35mm slides to DVD

I have 4 carousels full of slides taken about 35-40 years ago and they are just collecting dust. Looking for recommendations for a scanning/transfer service (on line) that I can trust. Has anyone on UHH ever had experience getting this done?

Thanks

I have much more than that. I bought a slide to media piece of equipment. I have not used it yet, but it's something you might want to look into. I bought mine from Amazon.com.

I used the Canon Cannoscan 9000, it did a nice job on about 500 slides I did a year ago. The most important thing to remember is to clean off the dust often or you will get allot of dust artifacts. My scanner came bundled with PS elements and their own software which give you allot of flexibility with your scans.

I'd like to add to that to use anti-static cloth (available from camera shops) to wipe off both the slides (front and back) and the scanner plate and inside lid, between scans.

I was in the same situation, and I bit the bullet and brought them a photography store. It wasn't fast, and it wasn't cheap, but they did excellent work. The images looked brand new - dust-free.

I've converted several hours of 8mm film to digital, but doing hundreds of slides didn't sound like fun.

Look at an 'SVP PS9700' on Amazon. My father just scanned 40+ years of slides to JPEG and the results are great. (but time consuming...)

"...in less than a second." That's pretty fast.
