I kept watching this guy until he caught his dinner.

I have only seen one Preying Mantis in my life, have read a lot about them, and marveled on their ability to blend in with their environment. I have also read there are remarkably intelligent. Nice photos, do you know if there is a feeding type of device one could purchase to attract them?

I had one in the same spot last year - on a yucca plant. But the one last year was green. They are amazing. He (or she) watched me constantly as I photographed. Don't have any more info.

Neat shots! I've been keeping an eye out because I saw a few last year. They are fascinating.

Oh my, that is impressive! I just don't have the patience to do that. Even have missed incoming meals to osprey and eagle nests 'cause my attention wandered :)

Thank you, Linda. I think bugs are much easier to find than osprey and eagles. This guy was right out my front door. :-)

Aren't they the most amazing creatures? I just love them. I have quite a few in my garden... some brown, some green but none like this.
Nice shots.
