Here are some fireworks shots I tried on the 4th. Didn't quite turn out like I'd hoped, but still some interesting shots. Comments and suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
Wide angle lens, 18mm or less. Set camera lens to F-8, shutter to 125sec. ISO to 100 or 200. Put camera on a tripode and point to where most of the fireworks are going off. Good luck. PS. Turn OFF the auto focus and anti shake on camera.
A challenging subject. I think you did pretty well. Did you crop these? I think the suggestion of using a wider lens is a good one.
Thank you. I did use a tripod, but the lens I used was a 40-150mm. I knew right away that was the wrong lens, so thanks for the tip about using a wide angle. I actually have a 9-18mm, so will try that next time.
I think nine is going to be a bit too wide...unless you want to get trees or buildings in with the shot. 18 might just do the trick, though.
