Now that many of you have tried LR5 is it really worth paying for the new and improved? I have LR3, LR4, do I really need LR5?
There's so much I still have to learn in LR4 that I feel I will over load my brain. :-(
Thank you for your time.

I think you just answered your own question: "new and improved," and you have the previous versions. You know you won't be satisfied if you don't get it. I'm the same way. :-D

Yeah but LR4 was a freebie. I always feel like I need to get the newest or else you won't be able to this or that. When I had Elements I always waited 2 or 3 jumps before I plunked down the money for the newest. What do you think is LR5 that big a deal?
Hope you had a great 4th. Ooops maybe you're not U.S. citizen. No offense.

You don't NEED LR5 any more than you needed LR 3 or LR 4. Its an incremental update. I think LR4 had more substantial changes overall. What you really need is to to review the updated and new features to determine how important they are to you.I upgraded because I wanted those features and as an extra bonus, LR 5 seems faster on my computer than LR 4.4

His name is Jerry and he lives in the Catskill mountains of southern New York State, I think you're pretty safe on that! Hope you had a great 4th of July.

Yes, I did have a nice 4th. As for LR5, there is no one feature that bowls me over, but it is faster, and I like the new healing/clone tool. It works similar to the PS Content Aware feature. Of course no one needs it, but for the price, it's nice to have the latest. I won't be getting any more PS editions, so I might as well stay current with LR.

Hi Tita, I think you will enjoy LR5 and I also use 5 along with PSE11 they both compliment each other. I believe it is worth the investment.
LR 5 is definitely worth the upgrade
I miss some of the features in 3.6 such as fill light and recovery--overall I like LR5 and I am still going thru some of the tutorials for using it
mwsilvers nailed it for me. Nothing in five that bowls me over- I'll wait for six. ;)

Les,
You can still access fill light and recovery in LR5.
In develop mode, Go down to the Camera Calibration Tab,
Where it says Process,, click on the 2012 Current:. You will now have the opportunity to select 2010.
There ya go, fill light and recovery has returned.

Fill light is now shadows and recovery is Highlights or VV but you now have more control . Instead fro 0 to plus you are able to go from zero to plus or minus

You can, of course, go back to that process in later LR versions. While, admittedly, the way to achieve what those adjustments is different, it works *much* better. (less noise introduction, less colour shifting, better at dealing with edges, more overall ability to adjust)
