I was on a tripod with remote shutter release and all shots were taken at 2 seconds with this setting. I dont think there is a way to decrease the shutter speed any more in this mode. A local town had fireworks early and another town is tonight and more on the 4th of course. I'm really happy with the results. I was about half way zoomed and about a mile away. I did crop these images but very little post work.

OMG - these are stunning! Our show doesn't start 'til about 10:15 pm, but might be worth staying up to try this!

I should add that timing is the key. You need to activate the shutter before the shell explodes. I took about 80 shots and was able to save about a third. Some go out of the frame so I learned fast not to zoom in too much.

Wonderful!

My wife tried some tonight on her brothers annual little personal fireworks display...at most they were 100 ft up and keeping them in frame was a little bit of a problem...but she got some fairly decent shots.

The camera is certainly capable in the fireworks mode as you have shown without a doubt.

Best fireworks shots I've ever seen! I'll have to post mine later; we're heading for VA early tomorrow morning.
