New E-Verify Bill Just Passed By The U.S. Senate

Are you an American citizen? If the answer is "yes", whether you are a Republican or a Democrat, whether you consider yourself to be conservative or liberal.........this new, 1,200 page "bill", which has just been passed by the U.S. Senate, is going to have a very significant effect on YOUR life; whether that "effect" will be good or bad, all depends on a lot of things.

My personal opinion is, at first glance, it sounds like a great idea; (sure would put a stop to illegal aliens voting, dead people voting, anyone voting ten times, etc.) but notice, I mentioned "at first glance". And therein lies the big problem. You'll notice, it already HAS 1,200 pages; please ask yourself, "why does ANYTHING need 1,200 pages" to spell it out ? Especially if it's supposed to "be good for you", or is supposed to "solve an existing problem" ?
The only thing I can think of that's more than maybe 675 pages is another Lee Child novel (with good old Jack Reacher), and even they are usually less than 700 pages !

Fortunately, this blog, (which as you'll note, gives full written consent for anyone to reprint, as long as full credit is given),
doesn't require you to read all 1,200 pages; it merely gives you the general idea of what the bill is all about; (perhaps I should change that to "about", rather than "all about" ?)

You also may want to ask yourself this question; "do you think many of the Senators who already passed this gigantic piece of legislation, actually READ all 1,200 pages ? And if not, how do they know if it's good (or bad), if they didn't read it first ? ( Kinda reminds me of another recent bill the Senate passed.)

As you'll note in the blog, the bill starts out supposedly being about immigration, who's legal, who's not legal, who can vote AND get a job, and who can't do either thing; But THEN, it goes on to explain, with a mere stroke of a pen, "a President can..." Uh oh.......that's where they just lost MY vote right there !

In it's present form, and with our present POTUS, I can very easily see where more than 60% "of us" won't be able to:
1.Vote
2. Get a job
3. Breathe
4. Voice our opinion
5. own a gun
6. criticize the POTUS
7. go to church
8. watch a John Wayne movie
9. use ANY word starting with "N","Q","Z","S", or even "P" !
and it stands to reason we sure couldn't be "allowed" to
10. vote for ANYONE the POTUS doesn't like; so I think we should ALL write a letter to ALL members of the U.S. House of Representatives and DARE those suckers to pass this thing without getting it DOWN to no more than 10 pages, and even then, anyone caught voting "yes" without FIRST reading ALL ten pages at least 9 times, will be facing a firing squad, in front of the Capitol Dome, at 7:00AM, next Valentine's day.

I'm Gitzo and I approve of everything I just said.

And now..............here we have.........."it"...

If You Like The Surveillance State, You’ll Love E-Verify

by Norm Singleton on JULY 1, 2013 in NATIONAL BLOG
Here is Campaign for Liberty Chairman Ron Paul’s latest Texas Straight Talk on E-Verify. Under Dr. Paul’s leadership, Campaign for Liberty will continue to lead the fight against E-Verify and National ID cards:

From massive NSA spying, to IRS targeting of the administration’s political opponents, to collection and sharing of our health care information as part of Obamacare, it seems every day we learn of another assault on our privacy. Sadly, this week the Senate took another significant, if little-noticed, step toward creating an authoritarian surveillance state. Buried in the immigration bill is a national identification system called mandatory E-Verify.

The Senate did not spend much time discussing E-Verify, and what little discussion took place was mostly bipartisan praise for its effectiveness as a tool for preventing illegal immigrants from obtaining employment. It is a tragedy that mandatory E-Verify is not receiving more attention, as it will impact nearly every American’s privacy and liberty.

The mandatory E-Verify system requires Americans to carry a “tamper-proof” social security card. Before they can legally begin a job, American citizens will have to show the card to their prospective employer, who will then have to verify their identity and eligibility to hold a job in the US by running the information through the newly-created federal E-Verify database. The database will contain photographs taken from passport files and state driver’s licenses. The law gives federal bureaucrats broad discretion in adding other “biometric” identifiers to the database. It also gives the bureaucracy broad authority to determine what features the “tamper proof” card should contain.

Regardless of one’s views on immigration, the idea that we should have to ask permission from the federal government before taking a job ought to be offensive to all Americans. Under this system, many Americans will be denied the opportunity for work. The E-Verify database will falsely identify thousands as “ineligible,” forcing many to lose job opportunities while challenging government computer inaccuracies. E-Verify will also impose additional compliance costs on American businesses, at a time when they are struggling with Obamacare implementation and other regulations.

According to David Bier of Competitive Enterprise Institute, there is nothing stopping the use of E-Verify for purposes unrelated to work verification, and these expanded uses could be authorized by agency rule-making or executive order. So it is not inconceivable that, should this bill pass, the day may come when you are not be able to board an airplane or exercise your second amendment rights without being run through the E-Verify database. It is not outside the realm of possibility that the personal health care information that will soon be collected by the IRS and shared with other federal agencies as part of Obamacare will also be linked to the E-Verify system.

Those who dismiss these concerns as paranoid should consider that the same charges were leveled at those who warned that the PATRIOT Act could lead to the government collecting our phone records and spying on our Internet usage. Just as the PATRIOT Act was only supposed to be used against terrorists but is now used to bypass constitutional protections in matters having noting to do with terrorism or national security, the national ID/mandatory E-Verify database will not only be used to prevent illegal immigrants from gaining employment. Instead, it will eventually be used as another tool to monitor and control the American people.

The recent revelations of the extent of National Security Agency (NSA) spying on Americans, plus recent stories of IRS targeting Tea Party and similar groups for special scrutiny, demonstrates the dangers of trusting government with this type of power. Creation of a federal database with photos and possibly other “biometric” information about American citizens is a great leap forward for the surveillance state. All Americans who still care about limited government and individual liberty should strongly oppose E-Verify.

Permission to reprint in whole or in part is gladly granted, provided full credit is given.

It is a terrible idea, no matter who is President. The big problem with Obama is that he has expanded on Bush's authoritarian power grabbing policies and not cut them. Two peas in a pod, really.

People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks, genius; perhaps you'd like to tell us anything you have contributed that is even worth reading ?

Go right on babbling about "how great" YOU think Obummer is........that's really making people "impressed"

Does anyone ever consider that perhaps, as ocbeyer says, both parties are the same? But they have to appear different so that people will not get wise as to what they are doing? And what are they doing? They have given the country over to the corporations and banks to do exactly as they wish in order to control our lives any way they wish? Actually, truly, think about it for more than a minute. Spend time going over why your money doesn't buy as much as it did, why the movies concentrate solely on fear and mayhem, along with most games. Why pols spout religion without even thinking of following the precepts they spout on a daily basis. Why you think you need a gun to make your life safe? Why you go to church every Sunday and hear preachers demean those they consider ungodly, as if they and they alone know what's in the Mind of God? and on and on. WAKE UP and take back your life. Stop being manipulated by those who have not and never will have your best interests in mind. jmo

I don't think your comment was fair, ochebayer has a good point. Bush (obama lite) did indeed institute many programs to control us the American public the patriot act being a good example. When Obama came along he not only upheld the Bush attacks on the Constitution but expanded on them. These two presidents have done more to enslave the american people than any other two presidents.
They are both traitors and should be in adjoining jail cells.
