Advice needed on this lens please.
Anyone with a Sony use this lens? since my zoomxi AF 100-300 went belly up I have been searching for a replacement and this is the best (i think) I have come up with.Your views will be greatfully received thanks
I shoot Nikon, but you didn't mention what you're thinking of for replacement.
What an idiot thanks for letting me know, the lens i have picked is Tamron 18-270 3-5 5-6 PZD the price around £350
Happens to the best of us.
My suggestion would be to check out the Sigma 18-250 before making your decision.

Thank you Pappy have made a note of that one,my photos are mostly birds and wildlife and i have always used the 100- 300 so coming down even farther than the 270 is new territory for me but i am open to all suggestions.

if you plan to stay with 100-300mm, then minolta has some good lenses. i have the minolta 100-300mm apo d , i get good results and there good reviews on the dyxum lenses for sony cameras site. check keh, adorama, and b&h photo, for used lenses.

I recently bought this lens and use it on a Canon T3i. I am very happy with it and find it a good walkaround lens. I paid $370 for it ($420 less $50 factory rebate from Tamron).
I use two Sony's, the A700 and the A77. I have two Tamron prime lenses, their 90mm and their 180mm, both capable of 1:1 macro magnification. I couldn't be happier with them, especially the 90; they don't come any sharper.
Closer to you question, I have the Sigma 18-250 and wouldn't trade it, although I have no direct experience with the Tamron 18-270. The Sigma is comperably priced. Try them both if possible.
