I read the UHH post about how to take photographs of fireworks and then put that to use. These are my first photographs of fireworks. I think they turned out pretty good.

Absolutely beautiful! What a great 1st attempt. What type of camera do you have and what settings did you use? Tripod use?

Oh yes, I used a tripod mounted T3I with a 55 -250mm lens. I experimented with the settings as the show progressed. I started with f16, 200 ISO, 10sec, I then jump to F5.6 200 ISO 10 sec, Then I went to f22 400 ISO 13 seconds. I ended up on F11 100 ISO for 10 secs.

Over the past 6 months or so I have been working on trying to improve my photography skills. Since I have been reading UHH I have went from a point and shoot take a snapshot guy to a mostly manual try and make a photograph guy (with a little help from some photog books) .

So Thanks for all the nice comments.

Thanks Al. I've got the exact same camera and lens and attempted it for the 1st time as well last night in manual. Didn't have much luck, was missing a lot of the fireworks trying different settings. Ended up just putting it on landscape and got some decent ones near the end. We have a few more fireworks in the area coming up. I'll try, try again and hopefully I can get something as nice as yours, especially since we have the same equipment!

Vhopkins, thanks for the nice comments.

UHH has some links on how to photograph fireworks. I recommend reading them. They gave a good starting point and then I tweak the camera setting until I got what I thought were the best shots.
Good luck and I hope I get a chance to see some of ur posted fireworks photos soon.

Al
