Just joined UHH a few days ago. I currently own a Kodak Easyshare Z980 and have just purchased a Canon Powershot SX50 HS after looking at the SX500 IS (was not impressed with the 500).

I hope to learn quite a bit here and hope to share a lot of what my eyes and camera see.

I would like to start with my first contribution from my Kodak...a fly on a stalk of lavender flower.

Thank you Wahawk and great to hear your take on both cameras. I can't wait to get started with the SX50 and to pair it with my Kodak.

I like the fact that both have the hot shoe, and then the SX50 with its greater zoom and the moveable LCD. I have been able to eliminate glare and shoot at much lower and higher angles than with the z980. Try holding the z980 at arm's length above your head and see what you are aiming at!! No problem with the SX50!

Interesting regarding the glare, I definitely like the sounds of glare elimination. The Z980 is a wonderful camera, but I am anxious to check out all of the capabilities of the SX50 and compare the two!
