Skegness, UK. Photography Opportunities
Hi. I am staying in Skegness UK for a week in August, and wondered if there was any hog out there who can give me any pointers on photography opportunities in the area, ie good landscape/seascape locations, etc. Don't know the area at all! Thanks.
I live 80 plus miles inland from Skegness (and that is the nearest point from home, to the sea) The sea is rather a long walk from the roads. There is a place called Gibralter Point about 3 or 4 miles south from 'Skeggy' (local term for Skegness)and is considered a conservation wild-life area. Some years since I last visited. Hope the weather is kind to you, Skegness advertises itself as 'Bracing'. No rocks or cliffs in the area, very flat.
Hi Pabio8. Thanks for replying. Is it mainly sand on beaches? Also, what is the landscape like further inland?
Hi Leicaflex. Thanks for link but having already tried these searches online, found they did not give info from a photography point of view on specific areas. That's why I thought someone local to the area interested in photography would be more in the know, as they say, what info I would be after. Hence my post on here. Thanks again though for your post.
I think it is mainly sand on the beaches, Some marshes/lagoons at Gibralter Point. No hills of any size for 8/10 miles inland. Very commercialised sea-front ..arcades swings gaudy blaring music etc. But perhaps a novelty for US visitors would be the Fish & Chip stalls. Burgers, you are used to I assume.
Come to Dorset instead as we have the Jurassic coast, old harry rocks, poole harbour and lots more!
Hi Brian. Would love to come to Dorset for seascapes.sounds lovely. But have a big grasstrack meeting at Skegness in August hence my visit. I know, move grasstrack meeting to Dorset ... Problem solved!
