A walk in the woods after mowing the lawn today provided me some entertainment. There were 3 turkey's roosting on a deadfall from last weekends storm. They hung around long enough to get 20 or so shots and then we all left. I'm sure they will come back to the spot as I took them a mix of seed and sunflower seeds which they love.
Stretching after sitting for and hour on the downfall.
Three Tom's on their day perch!
A little preening before supper.

Only ting better than a roosting Turkey is a roasting one. Very nice series, I am surprised they hung around when you stated taking photos.
Thanks rlaugh, they are fun to shoot as they are getting used to me being around apparently.
They have been in the neighborhood for quite a while and I chase them around with the camera and some feed so they know they get a reward when I'm done. Yes I'm sure they would be good roasted also but not in this area would I try that as it is not legal.

   Great job, Greg! Some cracked corn will keep them there, too, along with some deer. Thanks for showing.

Love the first one Greg! They are pretty smart birds. They always stay in an old apple tree back in my woods. Have tried many times to get a shot, but always to dark.

They get all of that good stuff. The deer show up everyday and the turkey's are a hit and miss. They are showing up more often since putting out the bird seed and sunflower seeds. They seem to really like sunflower seed! Thanks for looking and your comment Gene.

Thanks Angler, they are very smart birds but they are getting used to me giving them treats for photo's.

Great set Gregory.
They are smart Erv but they like to get the food before the squirrels and deer get it. I think they are smart as they come earlier in the day and sometimes at first light they are there already waiting.

Yes they were Linda, it always amazes me when I venture into the woods as I never know what will be there in front of my camera. I still haven't go the hawk's or owl's that I get a fleeting view of once and a while. Someday I will get a chance at them with the camera and I will be ready!
