Using NIK Collection (Suite) As Standalone

Having recently resurrected Lightroom on my computer to use the NIK plug-ins, I have just realized that they can be used as standalone programs.
I can drag and drop an image to NIK shortcut icons I have put on the desktop and it opens for editing.
Can not get 'send to' to work or 'open with'.
If anyone has any tips or tricks for use of NIK as standalone they would be greatly appreciated.

I now have LR5 and have not done anything as of yet regarding my plug-in NIK. I use a Mac. Any suggestions?

As far as I know you open from your Library. I use Aperture as My library, I simply select my photo then go to "Edit With" then select one of my Nik software imaging tools. I don't think Nik is a Library, so you need some sort of library system to select from..

LR5 should automatically pick up the Nik Plug-ins (or vice versa?). In the LR5 library right click an image>edit in>they should show up. Like fstop22 does.
Check them out. They are rather neat.

That would have been interesting to call them. Nik is not advertised as a stand alone and says nothing at the website. Maybe I should call to see what they say.
I did have to google how to put programs into the 'send to' and 'open in' dialog boxes. Now I am good to go.

Your are right. No library or import function in Nik itself.
I was trying to avoid going though LR5 to use Nik. I don't use or keep much there. Just from the Windows library. I had to manually add them to 'send to' and 'open in'. They didn't show up automatically. It was easy fix.
