Help needed for ps6

Hello fellow UHH ,

I need some help!!
I just purchased ps6 I 've been using ps elements 10 in conjunction with iPhoto, by that I mean I open my pictures in iPhoto from my camera. Then I edit in elements . This is done automatically through preference in iPhoto to edit in an external editor.
Now the $64,000 question. How do I get this to happen in ps 6? Is this possible? Without having to export duplicate files.? Hope this makes sense!

Sincerely,

Ellen

Emm, did you buy PS6 or CS6?
With the first one, I would not expect it to open images coming from iPhoto, it dates back to 2000.
CS6 is from a year ago.

In any case, I would think that to open the images in iPhoto and then send them to another editor, there must be a place in iPhoto to type in the full path to the other editor, and if that is the case, I would imagine it should open images in PS6.

Can't you just set CS6 as the external editor instead of Elements?

That's what I was hoping. Can this be done? I don't remember how to do it.

I know nothing about iphoto, but is there something in its menus that maybe refers to preferences or something similar? That's where I would look.

This really does not make any sense to me! Why would you not simply download your photos from your camera card to a specific folder on your computer? Since you now have CS6, you also have Bridge. Open Bridge and browse to that folder. You will then see all of the thumbnails of images in that folder. Double click on the thumbnail and the image will open in CS6, or ACR if it is a RAW image.

Thank you, I figured it out no thanks to Adobe help line who said it couldn't be done.
I have bridge with the program which I am sure once I get use to, I will get rid of iPhoto completely, but since I have been using iPhoto with elements, I didn't want to have multiply folders everywhere. Have to organize my pictures now that I have bridge.

I have CS6. I download photos using Bridge, then open them in Camera Raw (I shoot everything in raw.) After adjusting in Camera Raw, open in Photoshop. I've totally abandoned iPhoto, finding Bridge much easier to use for organizing photos. Maybe if you're a pro producing a high volume of images to organize, Lightroom may offer advantages, I don't know. But for the amateur, Bridge rocks.
