I have posted several times, but never saw my photos in the Gallery section. In any case, I am posting some iconic Florida images. Minimal cropping and post-processing. Comments welcome.

Other than Big Sky Country out west, I think Florida has some of the greatest skies. Sometimes I feel like just going out in the yard and shooting straight up in the air to capture cloud formations that happen here.

Here's a sample of what I see regularly.

Caption for #1? "Get out of here, bird...I'm trying to shoot that leaf." ;-) Great shots.

Yes, Marco, the skies are fantastic here. Never got a good look at them in NY cause of all the clouds...well you know what I mean.

If you look under "Newest Topics" or under the "My Topics" you should see ALL of your postings, but only about 10% of any particular day's postings make it onto the Daily Digest that gets emailed out.

Only about 10% of posted pictures make it to the front page of UHH and the rest get buried on other pages? I'm curious, who or what determines what makes it to the front page? Is it the earliest posts for that day or Big Brother?

Don't know. I just use it as a starting point and usually just go to the Newest Topics link at the top and then just above the listing on the left side I click on the "Unread" button. Then refresh the page every once in a while to see what is new. Newest will be at the top.

The first photo is not what I intended to post, but it is humorous and tells you something about photographing Scrub Jays. Unlike their cousins, the Blue Jays, Scrub Jays are friendly and very curious. The photo is of a friend's daughter trying to photograph a Scrub Jay. Of course, the record of the event is out of focus. Go figure. I'll try again to post the "post-sunset" photo.

Thanks for positive feedback. Montana is known, rightly so, as Big Sky country, but places like Myakka Lake, near here, and the Everglades certainly also qualify for Big Sky.

The Florida Scrub Jay photo shows something about this unique bird. Many bird photos tend to be rather static, but the Scrub Jay is anything but static. As I said, they are friendly and very curious -- especially about anybody who wants to photograph them.
