hi folks..using a sony hx100v..we had lots of rain around here tried to take photos of birds on an island...camera wouldn't focus...is there a shutter speed or f stop combo i can use to work around this..no photos everything was out of focus..thanks for any and all help...George

I'm not familiar with this camera, but I assume that you can't put into manual focus. If not, you may want to try setting the aperture at f16 or smaller. This may help bring more of the shot into focus (greater depth of field)

I am not familiar with your camera but it sounds like it was trying to focus on the raindrops. There really isnt a whole lot you can do about that if you are auto-focusing. I would shoot at an f22 or more and as fast a shutter speed as possible and hope for the best. The only other thing you could do is pre-focus and lock it there, then wait for a bird to land there. If this doesnt work then you would need to go to manual focusing.
Unfortunately the lens will normally focus on the closest object if you are using AF, which will be the raindrops, which are naturally constantly moving.
