I find it humbling to think I was only 7 years old when these brave lads accomplished this deed. Enjoy these shots of the restored Halifax, City of Lincoln, and its escorting Panavia Typhoons. Yes children, it was 70 years ago!

If I may just correct you on one point, it is not a restored Halifax, but an Avro Lancaster bomber from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, which I have flown in. You are quite right, it is named The City of Lincoln, but 617 squadron, the Dambusters, Lancaster's had the middle turret removed to accommodate the bouncing bomb http://www.raf.mod.uk/bbmf/

>>>CTP: Hate to split hairs with you---She's the one that bounced the bomb, OK. But I'll wager there is very little besides the air frame that has not been "restored or replaced". Asside from that, just how many Lankies are still air worthy?

Sorry Gramps, those "Panavia Typhoons" is Tornados! Otherwise I totally agree with you, those flyers had more courage than I possess!

Currently, there are 2 Lancasters airworthy. 1 in the Battle of Britain Flight, (City of Lincoln), and 1 in Canada - with which you are probably familiar Tomball!!!!. A third machine is at East Kirkby in Lincolnshire, it is currently restricted to Ground "Taxi" runs, but it is hoped to restore it to flying condition, (This one is named "Just Jane")

Beautiful! I could sit & stare at #2 for a long time. It always seemed to me that the Lancaster was a bomber with 4 P-40 noses stuck onto it. Just me. Your photos are great. Keep capturing this kind of light!

Damn Yank can't get anything straight. Washed my hands and couldn't do a thing with them---YOU ARE CORRECT. I checked the govt bulletin this thing came from and Tornado came out Typhoon. But then didn't someone say, "A similar people divided by a common language". I'll try harder next time. Still would have given just about anything to be in one of the chase planes!
