I was hunting mushrooms and found him in the tree. He was pretty high up there. Taken with Canon SX50 full zoom.

I love that you got those super-expressive eyes. How did you ever see it that high and camouflaged??

Thanks Linda

I was alone in the woods and thought i heard a deer. I just kept still against a tree looking for movement. In a few minutes I saw a big bird land in the tree canopy and zoomed in to see it was an owl. I took a dozen shots but when i moved to try to get an open shot with no leaves, he left.
I believe this is a "Barred Owl".

Were on the digital zoom or the teleconverter? If you try the 1.5x (pg 132 of the user manual), you'll have a little more leeway with light so can use faster shutter speed. The 2x choice is hard to control hand-held.

Sorry if we've already discussed this by PM; I can't remember which conversations I've had with whom!

Linda, I'm on page 132 and when i go into that menu on my camera the only options for Digital Zoom are 'Standard' and 'off' I don't get the option as it appears in the manual.

I think he left because he was upset with you stealing his "rooms"
